Welcome to November

November 2nd, 2003

Wow … it has been exactly a month since I added an entry. That seems like a long time. I thought about it for the first week or so, and then this whole web-log thing kinda fell off the radar. That’s just so typical of me. Work like mad to get something working just so and then forget that it exists. I guess that a lot of it has to do with the web interface … maybe today I’ll get the text interface going.

Last night we played Rook. It is classic. It is 98 years old and for some reason the deck we have has two instruction manuals. One that looks like it came with our deck sometime in the late 70s or early 80s and one that looks like it came from an earlier deck from sometime in the forties or fifties. The older manual has some scores on it from when my mother and father played … back when her last initial and his last initial didn’t match.

Eight days ago I ordered a MINI Cooper. It will be “Pepper White” and look almost exactly like this (except this person got the wrong wheels):

I have been instructed to refer to the car as “white” instead of the more marketing-heavy term “pepper white” but I think the distinction is important for two reasons. First, the color is not exactly white but it is off just enough to really clash with anything truly white. Secondly, I expect the not-quite-white color to be excellent at hiding dirt. Of course, some people don’t understand that (those people generally drive black cars).

At any rate, I have been told I can expect the car around the end of December or possibly early January. The MINI Website has a lot of good information and they keep me more updated than usual on the production status of my car. I think it is exceptionally cool.
