September 9th, 2003

I was getting an error message that it couldn’t find /usr/local/www/log.earlax…./schemas. I tried a few settings in the mt.cfg file for the StaticWebPath variable, but couldn’t get it right.

niagara:/WWW/log.earlax.com/cgi-bin/mt# ln -s ../../data/mt/schemas

and then the mt-load.cgi worked:

Loading initial data into system…

Mapping template ID ‘11′ to ‘Daily’
Mapping template ID ‘11′ to ‘Weekly’
Mapping template ID ‘11′ to ‘Monthly’
Mapping template ID ‘12′ to ‘Category’
Mapping template ID ‘13′ to ‘Individual’

Done loading initial data! All went well.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:

Now that you have run mt-load.cgi, you will never need to run it
again. You should now delete mt-load.cgi from your webserver.

FAILURE TO DELETE mt-load.cgi INTRODUCES A MAJOR SECURITY RISK.

okay. now what?

ImageMagick or NetBPM?

September 9th, 2003

Well, now I’m pissed because installing ImageMagick takes a considerable amount of time and space and comes with a metric assload of dependent programs and libraries. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have anything against ImageMagick per se, but I want a very, very narrow slice of its functionality and other programs that i have which can use ImageMagick can also use NetBPM and to this point have been using NetBPM quite nicely, thankyoufverymuch. I guess I’m upset because I didn’t realize that MT will work just fine with NetBPM, without ImageMagick.

Well, now that I’ve installed it, I guess I am going to at least test it out. I may do some comparison between IM and NetBPM … just for fun.
