wax off!
January 19th, 2008 | by jg3 |This is a method for cleaning wax spilled onto hard surfaces. These photos demonstrate cleaning ski wax / snowboard wax, but the same method works with candle wax (it just requires a little less heat). Note, I don’t think this works to get wax out of carpet.
Things got a little crazy during the snowboard wax application, wax got on the hardwood floor. Mom’s gonna be pissed.
Lay a paper towel over the wax
Using a low-ish (I used 3 - 4.5) setting, iron the paper towel. Try to keep the paper towel from moving. If you have very large blobs, you will see discolorations through the paper towel. Keep doing this until you are quite sure that even the hardest and largest blobs have sufficiently melted.
You can fold the towel and use the back side too, if it isn’t too soaked.
Yay, the wax is gone. Now we can finish cleaning up this project, take the wax we didn’t spill and hit the hill.
