new FreeBSD Desktop
January 16th, 2004 | by jg3 |It didn’t take long for the XP desktop machine to get on my nerves. Today I burned the 5.2-RELEASE-i386-miniinst.iso with the intent to build a system drive for my primary server, but decided to first install it to a 10G partition on my workstation. For the first time I’m installing everything via packages instead of using the ports and it makes things MUCH faster. I’ve already got a working Firebird that, except for the mouse wheel, browses as nicely as the XP installation.
It was cold today. A perfect day to clean the oven.
I can’t wait to go snowboarding next week. I put iron-on letters on the butt of my snowpants that say “KICK ME”
